NameThis

Posted by claudio.capo on June 10th, 2008

NameThisNameThis, a Kluster.com initiative, is a service that let’s others suggest names for your service, product or company. Within a 48 hours time frame visitors of NamThis.com can suggest names based upon a description of your service, product or company to launch. Or how they call it: “collaborative product/company naming”. The fun part is that you might have a change to get paid whenever you picked the right name (based upon some mathematic calculations by their system).

Name your thing.

Posted by claudio.capo on June 2nd, 2008

At first I thought it was a joke but apparently it’s for real. There is a site, nameyourwang.com on which you can get a “Certificate of Authenticity” of ownership of your manhood. For about $17,00 you can have a name registered for your penis. This is crazy but for sure is a great birthday present. :)

I admit, I have been laughing out loud for a little while. But hey, why not. It’s a fun service and I am sure people will use it. I checked and Rocco is still available.

TypeRacer: type and race your friends

Posted by claudio.capo on June 2nd, 2008

TypeRacer is a fun tool for everyone that wants to learn to type or likes a little bit of competition. You can practice, or race type complete strangers or your friends after you sent them an invite. A fun touch is the list of scores. You’ll be on top of the list when you do good. But scores are updates frequently so in order to stay on top you’ll need to practice a lot. Go TypeRace.

Snackr: an RSS ticker

Posted by claudio.capo on May 29th, 2008

SnackrHere is a handy little tool which makes it easy to keep track of new posts on blogs you normally read with your rss reader. Snackr actually is an rss reader but in the form of a small ticker which can be placed on one of the 4 sides of your screen. Posts scroll by as they come in. You can set the scrolling speed but I suggest not to set it to fast.

WeightNags: Face it, Fatty, you need someone to bug you …

Posted by claudio.capo on May 24th, 2008

How often do we hear people complain about their weight and wanting something do about it? Over and over again. Hence, even I complain since I am growing some lovely love handles. I started running a few weeks ago but results are poor up until today. But I am beating the distance. Each run I get further. At least that’s something to keep me going.

Flexible manFor all others that can’t get out of their lazy chair, turn off the TV, get another snack out of the fridge, … here’s a great service. We all need some encouragement or someone to push us a bit. If that someone is not around then you can fall back to this service. It’s called WeightNags. They nag and you lose (fat).

All you need to do is sign up and you get e-mails that make you feel guilty you couldn’t get out of your lazy chair. Another option is to sign up for a text messaging service. (which is not free but still only $4.95/month)

Here’s an example of an e-mail I got:

Hi Tubbo,

Okay, we know it’s tempting to eat at the Hungry Heifer every night of the week. After all, they have everything.

Or at least they did, before you licked every pan in that buffet clean enough to see your reflection in it. Did you bother to look at that reflection, though?

Obviously not - yikes! Waddling from your booth to the soft-serve machine is not exercise. Unless there’s, like, two miles in between. In which case, good for you - you can treat yourself to a little reward.

But until you get up and move around, you oughta lay off the buffet. Take care of your own beefy carcass before you eat a few pounds of something else’s.

Even if it is marinated in delicious barbecue sauce.

Who Loves You?

WeightNags Do. That’s who.

The day there was no news

Posted by claudio.capo on May 18th, 2008

What a brilliant composition. No news meaning good news. This is a way of spreading hope and a strong message to all of us that it actually can be different. Love it.

Nutella Breakfast Box

Posted by claudio.capo on May 12th, 2008

breakfast boxLast Friday I took public transport for a change to get to work. Public transport meaning walking to the train station and the train afterwards. I hate trains but albeit it was fun that day. I was late so I hadn’t time to buy a ticket and decided to buy one from the train conductor. I advised him before getting aboard. It only took 20 minutes to arrive at my destination and hadn’t see the conductor. Thanks for the free ride NMBS. At the station of arrival a big truck had just arrived and some friendly people handed out some boxes: Nutella Breakfast Boxes. This is wow. Nutella being a calorie bomb tastes delicious, especially in the morning. My daughter adores it. But this morning it was mine. :) breakfast box

But this action is a nice one. Giving people, who are going to work, a free breakfast is a nice way to let those people discover your product. Even if they already know the product you get happy customers. Everyone knows Nutella and it’s deliciousness.

The box included two small cups of Nutella chocolate, 2 sandwiches, a small knife, a napkin and an orange juice.

Summer Festivals

Posted by claudio.capo on April 24th, 2008

With the sun starting to shine over Belgium people start to talk about summer festivals. Also friends keep sending me mails about which festivals I am planning to attend next summer.

One of them has send me a great video of the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. A great festival which I attended 1O times. It’s a recommendation to go there. Friendly people, an excellent program, good food & drinks, … , but it’s a survival of the fittest. The festival itself lasts for 4 days but people arrive a week before door actually open.

Here is the video to get you started.

A few years ago I traded the Roskilde Festival for Sonar Off (side events during the actual Sonar festival) in Barcelona. Excellent as well.

See you around this summer.
